Dharmasala College Library

Dharmasala College Library was started in 1994 in the next year of establishment of the College. In the beginning it has a few books. Gradually, numbers of collection as well as services have been improved. Students, faculty and office staff has membership in the college library. The objectives of the college library are to ensure easy access to its resources. In order to cope up with the challenges of present day’s new procedures and Dharmasala college is going to install the latest technology for the library in due course of time. To promote reading habits among the users the library committee announces the “Best Library User” prize. The library has over 4,500 books, magazines, journals, news paper etc. Considering the fact that majority of the users belong to economically poor families the library takes extra care of them. The library also takes feedback from its users.

Objectives:

To collect, consolidate and circulate information and knowledge to students, research scholars and other academic communities.

To promote the use of various sources of information and knowledge among the users.

To preserve, protect and reuse the invaluable collection for its users.

To maintain universal and democratic ethos of library.

Library Rules:

Library will remain open from 09.30 am to 04.00 pm on all college working days.

Before entering into the library members have to deposit their belongings, other than note books in the property counter.

A member will have to show the library/ identity card at the main entrance before entering into the library.

Rs. 100/- is required as a caution money at the time of member registration.

Before entering into the library the gate register is to be signed legibly.

Books borrowed by the library members may be recalled by the librarian at any time.

Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the book before borrowing, otherwise they will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of returning.

An overdue charge of Rs. 1.00 for each book per day shall be levied on a member, if a book is kept beyond the loan period.

A member must produce his/ her identity card &reader’s ticket at the time of borrowing.

The membership card and the reader’s ticket are not transferable.

Silence should be strictly maintained in and around the library.

No reference books, rare books & periodicals shall be issued to members.

Please drop any suggestion, complaints in the readers’ suggestion box or contact the librarian.

Mobile phone should be kept in silent mode in the library.

Decorum & discipline should be maintained in the library.
